Photos Of Wind Turbines Below are some photos of Wind Turbines. The wind turbine is Savegreenly's signature image. Though no energy source is perfect, wind turbines are able to generate thousands of megawatts of clean energy every year with very little associated CO2 production. The wind turbine photos below were taken in West Texas near the town of Sterling City. The wind farm in these photos is the Forest Creek project, owned by Airtricity. If you would like to use any of these wind turbine photos, and would like a high resolution copy, please email me here: Contact
The wind turbines in these photos can each generate 2.3 megawatts of electricity. One megawatt can power about 400 homes at any given moment. Some of the turbines are over 415 feet tall, which is about one hundred feet taller than the Statue Of Liberty.
The size of these giant wind turbines can only really be appreciated close up. This particular wind turbine photo shows the generator housing, or nacelle, which is as large as an RV or bus. The generating equipment inside the nacelle weighs about 25 tons.
This photo is called "Last Drop Ranch". It shows a rusty oil well next to a new wind turbine farm. This photo can be purchased in high resolution for $10 by contacting us here: Buy Photo For more photos of the alternative energy industry, see Photos |
